Motion Design & Compositing, The Mill

In collaboration with Verbalisation and director Chris Turner (Hungryman), The Mill was commissioned to create a poetic brand film for the Financial Times’ Sunday cultural supplement. The piece used the flowing movements of a ballet dancer as a visual lens — transitioning through vignettes representing the paper’s sections: Arts & Culture, Wine & Food, Travel, Art, and Lifestyle.

I worked as part of the motion team responsible for compositing and visual development, with a particular focus on shaping the internal content within the dancer’s silhouette. Each pose offered a new framing challenge — carefully aligning timing, composition, and environmental detail to match the choreography captured on set.

Alongside the official TV and cinema release, I developed an alternate director’s cut exploring a more abstract interpretation of the concept — a personal version that focused on rhythm, minimalism, and negative space.
